Abstract

This article focuses on research conducted by the University of Lille in Villeneuve d'Ascq, France, examining the psychological risk factors and life trajectories of women who committed or attempted filicide. The study involved interviews with sixteen incarcerated women and identified four life trajectory types characterized by continuous psychiatric issues, temporary psychotic disorders, ongoing physical and psychological violence, and poor social relationships. The research supports the view that filicide results from complex psychosocial stresses over an individual's life and emphasizes understanding the crime through a dynamic, life-course perspective. This peer-reviewed study contributes to the field of psychology and psychiatry by highlighting the multifaceted nature of filicide perpetrators’ experiences. [Extracted from the article]
