Abstract
The article discusses a recent EU antitrust ruling regarding resale price maintenance (RPM) practices by luxury brands Gucci, Chloé, and Loewe. The European Commission imposed fines totaling €157 million on these companies for restricting their retailers' pricing autonomy, which violated EU competition laws. The brands had engaged in practices that included enforcing recommended retail prices and monitoring compliance among retailers. The article suggests that the current strict antitrust regulations in the EU may need reevaluation to balance consumer protection with brand value preservation. [Extracted from the article]
