Abstract
"The Science of Weird Shit: Why our minds conjure the paranormal" by Chris French explores the phenomenon of sleep paralysis and other experiences that often attract non-scientific explanations. French, a researcher at Goldsmiths, University of London, shares historical accounts and scientific studies to explain that sleep paralysis is a glitch in the normal sleep cycle where the mind wakes up but the body does not. The book delves into various areas of the paranormal, such as alien abductions, false memories, reincarnation, and coincidences, and explores cognitive biases that can affect our decisions and behavior. French's goal is not to prove people wrong, but to provide a psychological context for their experiences. [Extracted from the article]
