Abstract

The article focuses on the appropriate clinical advice for replacing a progestogen intrauterine device (IUD) in a 47-year-old woman who had the device inserted 8 years ago and had sexual intercourse 2 weeks prior. According to the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health guidance (2019), the single most appropriate advice is that if her pregnancy test is negative, she can have the IUD replaced immediately. This guidance emphasizes timely replacement without unnecessary delay, provided pregnancy is excluded.
