Abstract

The article discusses the campaigns by right-wing politicians, activists, and their supporters to ban books focusing on people of color and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer plus (LGBTQ+) characters and how they turned schools into battlegrounds of censorship. Among the personalities who lead or support said campaigns are Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Ron DeSantis, and Greg Abbott.
