Abstract

The article focuses on research examining the "testing effect," which posits that retrieving information through testing enhances long-term retention more effectively than restudying. Conducted by researchers at the University of Toulouse, the study explored the replicability of this effect in online crowdsourced settings using the Prolific platform. Despite employing validated learning materials and methodologies designed to enhance the testing effect, the experiments found no significant differences in retention between participants who engaged in retrieval practice and those who restudied.
