Abstract

The study investigates the relationship between gender inequality, women's absolute status, and the prevalence of online stalking victimization and image-based victimization (IBV) among adolescents across 31 countries. It employs descriptive analysis and hierarchical logistic regression models to explore individual-level factors such as risky lifestyles, social attachments, and physical/social vulnerability, as well as macro-level indicators of gender stratification. Findings indicate that higher levels of gender inequality correlate with increased victimization rates for both genders, while individual-level factors show varying impacts on boys and girls, suggesting that addressing gender-specific vulnerabilities and promoting gender equality could help reduce youth cybervictimization.
