Abstract

This article reviews and analyzes the bibliometrics of dental implant literature (BDI) to clarify its multifaceted nature and assist readers in interpreting implantology research. It identifies the United States, Italy, Brazil, and China as consistently productive countries, with Sweden and Switzerland playing significant academic and commercial roles, and highlights emerging contributions from Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, and South Korea. The study emphasizes three core journals—Clinical Oral Implants Research (COIR), Clinical Implant Dentistry & Related Research (CIDRR), and The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants (IJOMI)—as primary sources in implantology bibliometric analyses. Additionally, it discusses the use of top-cited papers to map influential authors, countries, and research trends within the field. The authors aim to provide a resource for researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and other stakeholders to better navigate and evaluate the dental implant literature.
