Abstract

This article focuses on the professional and personal experiences of a librarian who worked with the Humboldt County Library system’s bookmobile service in the early 1970s. After earning a Master’s Degree in Library Science, she became one of the youngest professional librarians in the county and drove the “K-T Bookmobile,” serving remote communities in the Klamath-Trinity area. Her work involved extensive travel on challenging rural roads, engaging with diverse local populations, and supporting library outreach in small schools and mills. The article also highlights her cultural learning, including studying the Hupa language, and her lasting connections to the region through family and continued involvement with bookmobile services.
