Abstract

This study provides a bibliometric analysis of digital library research related to China from 2008 to 2023, based on 576 publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection. It identifies significant growth in research output and citation impact, with Chinese institutions—particularly Wuhan University—leading contributions. The research themes have evolved from foundational digital library concepts to advanced technologies and user-centric approaches, while collaboration networks reveal strong domestic partnerships alongside emerging international cooperation, notably with the United States and several European and Asian countries. Key journals such as *Electronic Library* are highlighted for their influence in disseminating research in this field. The study offers insights into the development and global positioning of digital library research in China, while acknowledging limitations related to data sources and the scope of bibliometric methods.
