Abstract

The article focuses on advocating for mobile library services as a means to bridge the educational gap for out-of-school children (OOSC) in Nigerian communities. It examines the socio-economic, cultural, and geographical barriers—such as poverty, conflict, discrimination, and infrastructural challenges—that prevent many Nigerian children, especially in marginalized and remote areas, from accessing formal education. Mobile libraries, which deliver books, educational materials, and digital resources directly to underserved populations, are presented as flexible and inclusive tools that promote literacy, lifelong learning, and community empowerment. The paper reviews the historical development of mobile libraries in Nigeria, highlights their educational impact, discusses implementation challenges, and proposes strategic collaborations among government, NGOs, and communities to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability. Ultimately, it calls for increased investment in mobile library initiatives to ensure equitable access to education for all Nigerian children regardless of their circumstances.
