Abstract
This article focuses on providing pediatric-specific dosing recommendations for β-lactam antibiotics used to treat antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) gram-negative infections, serving as a companion to the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) adult AMR treatment guidance. A panel of pediatric infectious diseases specialists reviewed pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic and clinical data to suggest dosing regimens for newer β-lactam agents—including cefiderocol, ceftazidime-avibactam (with or without aztreonam), ceftolozane-tazobactam, imipenem-cilastatin-relebactam, meropenem-vaborbactam, sulbactam-durlobactam, and ampicillin-sulbactam—across neonates, infants, children, and adolescents with normal renal and hepatic function.
