Abstract
The article discusses the conflict of conscience that arise when healthcare staff have to make care decisions that go against their values. Topics covered include moral injury and its risk factors, the differences between moral injury, moral distress and burnout, how moral injury manifests itself, and what can mitigate it. Also noted are what nurse managers can do to reduce moral injury risk, and spotting the signs of moral injury.
