Abstract
This study assesses the perception and awareness of undergraduate health science students in medicine, pharmacy, and nursing colleges in South Jordan regarding the use of over-the-counter (OTC) medications and identifies related practices. Data from 342 students collected via an internet-based questionnaire revealed that most participants use OTC drugs, particularly painkillers, nutraceuticals, and herbal remedies, to self-treat minor ailments like pain and the common cold. The overall perception score indicated a generally positive attitude toward self-medication, with no significant differences based on age, gender, academic level, or college. The study highlights the need for interprofessional medical education to enhance integrated knowledge and prepare graduates for effective patient counseling on OTC medication use.
