Abstract

The article discusses that the history of women, as depicted by the media, underwent a significant shift with the sexual revolution of the sixties, leading to the perception that women broke free from traditional roles and gained equality. However, this narrative overlooks the active participation of women in public life during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, particularly in social reform movements and volunteer work that shaped civic culture.
