Abstract
The article focuses on the depiction of fossil-fueled industrialism in the novels of Dreiser, Norris, and Sinclair. Topics include the portrayal of socio-ecological exploitation in industrial capitalism, the resilience of labor and nature against its devastation, and the tension between pastoral optimism and anxieties over the impacts of fossil fuels on both workers and the environment.
