Abstract
A recent study from the University of Georgia explores the critical role of coping strategies in enhancing mental health and resilience among disaster survivors. The research highlights the importance of problem-focused, emotion-focused, social support, and avoidance coping methods in mitigating psychological distress and promoting recovery after natural and man-made disasters. The study also identifies additional coping strategies such as mindfulness-based practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy, cultural coping, and proactive coping, offering implications for tailored public health interventions in disaster response and recovery. This research emphasizes the need for effective mental health strategies in addressing the increasing frequency of disasters and the diverse experiences of those affected.
