Abstract

This article focuses on research from Nanjing Audit University in the People's Republic of China examining the combined impact of parent-child and sibling relationships on adolescent depression. The study, involving 3,054 adolescents, found that secure parental attachment is linked to lower depression levels, while sibling relationships both mediate and moderate this effect, with sibling warmth specifically buffering the negative impact of maternal attachment insecurity. The findings highlight that negative family relationships can increase depression risk, whereas positive sibling bonds may serve as protective factors. The research suggests that sibling relationships warrant greater attention in future studies and interventions addressing adolescent depression. [Extracted from the article]
