Abstract

The article focuses on the significance of Passiontide, the period beginning on the Fifth Sunday in Lent, traditionally called Passion Sunday, as a time for sober reflection on human sin and the realities leading to Christ's crucifixion. It argues that Passiontide challenges Christians to confront the darker aspects of human nature—such as selfishness, greed, and abuse of power—rather than rushing to Easter or relying solely on policy reforms. Drawing on biblical references, including Ezekiel's vision of dry bones and Jesus' raising of Lazarus, the article emphasizes that true transformation requires acknowledging human brokenness and seeking God's grace. Passiontide thus serves as a call to honesty about societal and personal failings before hope and renewal can be realized.
