Abstract

This article focuses on the scholarly exploration of anglophone women’s travel writing from the eighteenth century to the present, highlighting its historical development, intersectional nature, and cultural significance. It discusses how travel writing provided women with a platform to express diverse identities and engage with broader political and social issues, including race, class, gender, and empire. The article also examines the genre’s hybridity and its relationship with other literary forms, as well as the evolving themes of cosmopolitanism and identity in contemporary works. Overall, it emphasizes the importance of continuing research and teaching in this field due to its relevance to cultural, political, and feminist discourses.
