Abstract

The article examines Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel Persepolis as an autobiographical work that portrays life in Iran during and after the Islamic Revolution. Topics include the blending of personal narrative with national history, the artistic choice of black-and-white illustration; and the universal themes of exile and cultural identity.
