Abstract
The article discusses how recent DNA analysis of skeletons from Pompeii has challenged long-held assumptions about the identities of the victims. For example, DNA results revealed that individuals found together in one dwelling were not a biological family as previously thought. The study also shed light on the diverse ancestry of the Pompeii residents, showing connections to populations from the eastern Mediterranean and Anatolia. The findings highlight the complexity of Roman society and the potential for non-biological family ties in ancient times. [Extracted from the article]
