Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining whether mothers perceive their adult daughters' faces as younger than their actual age, reflecting a potential perceptual bias. The research involved mother-daughter pairs who evaluated images of the daughters' faces that were systematically aged or rejuvenated. Findings indicated that both mothers and daughters exhibited a youth bias, but it was significantly more pronounced among mothers, who also viewed younger images as more representative of their daughters' identities. This suggests that parental perceptions of their children may be influenced by their memories of earlier developmental stages. The study is based on a preprint and has not yet undergone peer review.
