Abstract

The article offers information on the recent adaptation of "Othello" directed by Lara Foot, which premiered at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town in April 2024. Topics include the unique use of multiple languages in the production, the historical context of the late colonial period in German South West Africa, and the mixed critical responses regarding the portrayal of Othello and the absence of representation for the Nama and Herero peoples.
