Abstract
"Queer Natures, Queer Mythologies" by Sam See is a posthumously published book that explores the connection between queerness and Darwin's theories of evolution in nature, as well as how queerness can form the basis for community. The book is divided into two parts: "Queer Natures" and "Queer Mythologies." The first part examines the influence of Darwin's ideas on various modernist writers, including Virginia Woolf, Oscar Wilde, Walt Whitman, E.M. Forster, and Langston Hughes. The second part delves into the interpretation of modernist novels and their portrayal of queer experiences. While the book is complex and may raise questions, it offers a unique perspective on the queer potentialities in modernist American literature. [Extracted from the article]
