Abstract
The poem "What the Doctor Really Said" presents a brief interaction between a doctor and the brother of a recently deceased patient. The brother inquires whether the doctor had informed the patient that he was terminally ill, to which the doctor responds that he had not and was equally surprised by the patient's death. The exchange highlights themes of communication, mortality, and the emotional weight carried by medical professionals. The doctor expresses sympathy to the family but internally reflects on the situation in a subdued manner.
