Abstract
The article explores the concept of the "shape of life" and how the order and sequence of experiences can impact our perception of a good life. It presents a thought experiment comparing the lives of two actors, Toby and Ybot, who both experience the same goods and struggles but in reverse order. While both lives have the same net worth, most people would prefer Toby's life because it is a story of triumph over adversity, whereas Ybot's is a story of decline. The article suggests that the narrative trajectory and the arrangement of experiences matter in determining the overall success and value of a life. [Extracted from the article]
