Abstract
The article focuses on the artistic journey of Ivana Bašic, who draws from her experiences of trauma and violence in war-torn Yugoslavia to create sculptures and drawings that explore themes of transformation and dissolution. Her work, which has evolved over the past decade, incorporates materials such as wax, glass, metal, and stone, alongside immaterial elements like breath and force, to create structures that exist in a liminal space between the human and non-human. Bašic's recent pieces reflect a shift towards the otherworldly, emphasizing the potential of dissolution and metamorphosis, while also engaging with philosophical concepts from Gnosticism and pneumatics. Through her art, she seeks to represent the core of existence and the transition from materiality to a more ethereal state. [Extracted from the article]
