Abstract
The article explores how medieval poets used debating flowers to examine the boundaries between objects and beings. Topics include the narrative tradition of flower debate poems rooted in classical and Carolingian literature, the philosophical challenge of understanding personification beyond rigid taxonomies, and the imaginative portrayal of plants' "thoughts" as a way to explore allegory, natural properties, and the idea of thinking like a plant.
