Abstract

The article argues that Virginia Woolf's novel "Jacob's Room" should be considered poetry or a hybrid work rather than a traditional prose-fiction novel. It explores the use of lyrical language and symbolic motifs in the novel, highlighting its resemblance to modernist poetry. It references Woolf's own comments on the novel and her belief that it possessed characteristics of poetry.
