Abstract
This article examines Ngugi wa Thiong'o's novel *Weep Not, Child* (1964) as a significant work of resistance literature that challenges British colonial indoctrination in Kenya during the 1952–1961 State of Emergency and the Mau Mau rebellion. Using the theoretical frameworks of Ghassan Kanafani and Barbara Harlow, the study analyzes how the novel portrays colonial methods of indoctrination—such as land dispossession, cultural and linguistic imperialism, education, religion, and divide-and-rule policies—and the multifaceted resistance they provoked, including armed, cultural, and political forms. The novel highlights the struggle for liberation and identity by emphasizing Kenya's cultural heritage and the complexities of colonial oppression. The article contributes to postcolonial studies by offering a focused analysis of *Weep Not, Child* within the broader context of resistance literature, while suggesting further research to explore additional dimensions of Ngugi's work.
