Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining the experiences of first-generation Chinese and Korean immigrants in the Deep South, particularly in the context of post-pandemic xenophobia and the challenges faced in accessing culturally sensitive therapy. Conducted by researchers from Berry College, the study utilized a phenomenological qualitative approach, interviewing 16 immigrants to uncover their narratives in a racially segregated region that has been historically overlooked in Asian American research. The findings highlight the need for counseling psychologists to consider the sociopolitical realities impacting these marginalized populations to provide adequate clinical support. The research is peer-reviewed and published in the Asian American Journal of Psychology. [Extracted from the article]
