Abstract
The US wheat crop is experiencing favorable conditions, but demand for wheat-based foods is declining. The US Department of Agriculture predicts that the amount of wheat used in food this year will be the lowest in five years. The decrease in demand is particularly noticeable in sweets and processed foods, with sales of cookies, crackers, and bread all declining. Factors contributing to this decline include the adoption of weight-loss drugs, inflation, and the desire to reduce food waste. As a result, American wheat farmers may need to seek buyers abroad, but they will face challenges due to competition from cheaper supplies offered by Russia. Despite the overall decline, there are some areas of strong demand for flour-based foods, such as bakery bread and individual slices of pie. [Extracted from the article]
