Abstract
This article focuses on the clinical relevance of Paul Tillich's existential theology to existential psychotherapy, particularly for clients with cross-cultural and spiritual complexities. The research, conducted at Middlesex University in London, United Kingdom, highlights how Tillich's ideas—such as participation and individuation, three ontological anxieties, and the concept of the "God above God"—address issues like moral guilt, meaninglessness, and cultural alienation. Using a clinical case study of a Muslim client facing exile, homosexuality, and spiritual shame, the study argues that Tillich's theology provides a compassionate framework bridging philosophical concepts and lived experience. The research encourages existential therapists to embrace the full complexity of clients' identities without imposing ideological constraints. [Extracted from the article]
