Abstract

The article assesses two sets of Hispanophone translations of poet John Milton's sonnets, "Sonnets and a Canzone" by Mario Murgia and "Appendix: Five Sonnets" by Joan Curbet. Topics discussed include the aim of the translations to reach the Hispanic public, the invitation for readers to appreciate Milton as a sonneteer and epic poet, Murgia's use of the Spanish single-syllable grey, and the appeal of the layout of "Sonnets and a Canzone" and "Appendix: Five Sonnets."
