The article explores the role of boy soldiers in the American Civil War, highlighting the significant number of underage enlistees who joined the military. It discusses the legal and social implications of underage enlistment, as well as the varied experiences of young soldiers during the war. The authors challenge the romanticized view of boy soldiers, emphasizing the hardships and challenges many of them faced.
