Abstract
This article examines several Oscar-nominated films that are adaptations of or inspired by literary works, highlighting the connections between the movies and their source materials. It notes that Paul Thomas Anderson’s film *One Battle After Another* draws loosely from Thomas Pynchon's novel *Vineland*, while Chloé Zhao’s *Hamnet* is a cinematic interpretation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel. Additionally, the article references Fiona Sampson’s *In Search of Mary Shelley* as contextual background for Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of *Frankenstein*, and Henri Troyat’s biography of Ivan Turgenev, whose short story "The Singers" was adapted into a nominee for best live-action short film. The piece presents these literary connections to provide insight into the films’ origins without editorializing. [Extracted from the article]
