Abstract

The article reviews three contemporary opera productions, focusing on their thematic interpretations and performances. The Dutch National Opera's *The Maid of Orleans* reimagines Joan of Arc's story in a modern courtroom setting, emphasizing themes of persecution and faith, with Elena Stikhina delivering a notable portrayal. Poland's Teatr Wielki presented *Dorian Gray*, a modern adaptation of Oscar Wilde's work set in present-day London, exploring social media's impact through a collaboration between director David Pountney and composer Elżbieta Sikora, featuring a strong performance by Rafał Żurek. Italy's Teatro La Fenice staged Mozart's *La Clemenza di Tito*, blending historical and modern elements to highlight themes of love and forgiveness, with conductor Ivor Bolton leading a musically refined performance.
