Abstract

The article summarizes presentations from a February 24, 2024, reading session focused on childhood literature and folklore. Topics include a personal exploration of literacy through American Girl dolls and historical fiction, an existential analysis of death in E. B. White’s *Charlotte’s Web*, and the use of children’s adaptations of medieval texts to facilitate understanding of complex language and concepts. Additionally, it examines the Appalachian folktale "Tailypo" as a reflection of frontier fears and superstitions in late 19th-century Appalachia. These studies highlight diverse approaches to childhood narratives and their cultural, philosophical, and pedagogical significance.
