Abstract
In the article "THE BOOKSHELF" by Katherine Howell, two authors propose a foreign-policy blueprint for future Republican administrations in their book "We Win, They Lose: Republican Foreign Policy and the New Cold War." They argue for a "Trump-Reagan fusion" strategy that emphasizes peace through strength and fair trade. The authors also evaluate President Biden's foreign-policy approach and make a case for the need for an alternative. Another book mentioned is "True Confessions: Voices of Faith from a Life in the Church" by Francis X. Maier, which provides a sobering view of the Catholic Church in America through interviews with various individuals. Maier diagnoses the problems facing the church and suggests that renewal starts with individuals looking inward. Lastly, "The Deorhord: An Old English Bestiary" by Hana Videen explores how medieval humans saw themselves and their place in creation through stories about animals. The book draws from Old English texts and examines the symbolism attached to animals. [Extracted from the article]
