Heterotopic Materiality, Comics, and Translation.

The article explores how comics, specifically cartoonist Sarah Glidden's "Rolling Blackouts," use visual cues like overlapping speech balloons to represent translation and foreground the practice of translation. Comics, as a unique form of reading, offer a visual grammar that can disrupt traditional notions of translation. The trilingual Lebanese comics magazine "Samandal" is used as an example to illustrate how comics pages become sites for intersemiotic translation.
