Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain examined the prevalence of internet use and abuse in the adult population of Galicia. The study found that 74.8% of the Galician population aged 16 to 74 used the internet, with the highest usage among those under 45 years old. The prevalence of problematic internet use (PIU) or at-risk of PIU was 1.0% in the overall population, but reached 5.2% among those aged 16 to 24. The researchers concluded that PIU is an emerging problem, particularly among younger individuals. [Extracted from the article]
