Abstract
The article discusses the divisive nature of wealth disparities within families and the impact it can have on relationships. It explores the experience of the author's father, who was unable to accumulate wealth while his sister married a wealthy man and flaunted her newfound riches. The author reflects on the negative effects of this dynamic, including envy and a sense of inferiority. The article also references sociological studies on how socioeconomic status is transmitted within families and the deep sense of failure that can arise when one sibling achieves financial success while others do not. It concludes by suggesting that financial inequality can strain relationships and that friendships between individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds may be more stable than blood relationships.
