Abstract

The article explores the innovative structure of North Korean revolutionary theatre through the 1978 production Seonghwangdang (Village Shrine), highlighting its unique multi-scene composition that challenges classical Western conventions to promote the self-reliant ideology. Topics include the theatrical embodiment of the juche idea, the use of character-driven multi-location scenes, and the political function of revolutionary performance in legitimizing leadership succession.
