Abstract

The article examines the protagonist in "A Man Asleep," the 1967 novel of French writer Georges Perec, referred to as You. Topics include the protagonist's self-perception and existentialist views, the purpose of efforts to protect's one privacy, the distinction between solitude and loneliness, as well as sleeping to renew one's integral being.
