Abstract
Michael James Scott, the longest-running Genie in Disney's Aladdin, reflects on his journey as a Black gay actor in celebration of the Broadway musical's 10-year anniversary. Scott recalls the impact of seeing representation on stage as a child and discusses his experiences growing up in Baltimore and later moving to Orlando. He shares his journey in the theater industry, including his time at Disney World and his role as the standby for the Genie in the original Broadway production of Aladdin.
