Abstract
This review focuses on a 2023 London production of Robinson Jeffers's 1946 adaptation of Euripides's *Medea*, directed by Dominic Cooke. Unlike traditional cathartic tragedies, Jeffers's version challenges audience identification with Medea, portraying her as an outsider whose moral framework justifies the filicide she commits as revenge against her husband Jason and Corinthian society. The production emphasizes Medea's alienation from Greek middle-class values and highlights the inadequacy of the male characters in understanding her motives. Presented in-the-round at Soho Place Theatre, the play invites contemporary audiences to reconsider assumptions about otherness and justice through Medea's uncompromising logic.
