Abstract

The article discusses the intersection of impressionism in literature and the idea of mediation. It explores how E. M. Forster's novel "A Room with a View" exemplifies this concept by using the phrase "across something" to convey the merging of physical and metaphysical elements in the act of perception, ultimately straddling the divide between popular and modernist writing.
