Abstract
The article focuses on advancing multimodal research in management and organization studies (MOS) by using graphic novels as a medium to achieve "strong" multimodality, which integrates multiple modes simultaneously rather than sequentially. It identifies three key affordances of graphic novels—eroticize (attending to embodied and affective experiences), narrativize (contextualizing when one mode is insufficient), and theorize (demonstrating new ways of inquiry)—that can enrich knowledge production in MOS. The authors emphasize the role of playful engagement with words and images to explore their combined potential, addressing limitations of traditional approaches that prioritize verbal modes over others.
