Abstract

This article discusses two books that explore Edgar Allan Poe's visual legacies in Spain. The first book, "La mirada irónica de Ramon Calsina Baró," focuses on the artistic production of Ramon Calsina Baró, a Barcelona-based painter and sketcher, who created illustrations for Poe's works. The second book, "Toledo, el pozo y el péndulo," examines the significance of Spain, particularly the city of Toledo, in Poe's story "The Pit and the Pendulum." Both books provide valuable insights into the visual universe inspired by Poe in Spain. The article emphasizes the importance of the senses in understanding artistic manifestations and highlights the fruitful exploration of Poe's visual conception and aesthetic significance.
